L'amazzone young rider spagnola Alba Ruiz de Villa Alvarez, partecipò ai Young Horses 8 YO World Championships che si corsero all'Horse Country Resort Congress & spa di Arborea nel 2021.
Nella stessa location dove a fine settembre si disputerà l'edizione 2024 riservata ai cavalli di 8 anni, Alba fu protagonista di un'avvincente volata in sella a Cardu 50 che tagliò il traguardo un secondo dopo il duo emiratino Beljafla Khalfan Juma Mohammed con Kashmiir.
Per l'occasione, in vista di agguerrite volate, il Comitato Organizzatore spostò la linea dell'arrivo finale alle spalle del cancello veterinario utilizzando un lungo e suggestivo viale dove si dettero battaglia come previsto.
Abbiamo intercettato l'amazzone spagnola, e le abbiamo fatto tre veloci domande:
- Cosa significa salire sul podio in un campionato del mondo per cavalli giovani? Cardu 50 ha poi continuato la sua carriera sportiva?
"Per me è stato un grandissimo risultato; centrare questo obiettivo costa molto si in termini di tempo che di lavoro e denaro.
È una cosa che non capita tutti i giorni, non è un titolo qualunque perchè il sacrificio per arrivarci è davvero importante. Personalmente mi sono fidata completamente del mio cavallo e del lavoro che abbiamo svolto a casa.
Quella di Arborea in Sardegna (Ita), è stata la mia prima impresa a livello mondiale ed è stato un momento davvero magico; una soddisfazione immensa soprattutto perchè fatta con un mio cavallo.
Cardu 50 ha continuato la sua carriera agonistica in una scuderia a Dubai e continua oggi a competere".
- Cosa ne pensi del percorso dell'Arborea? Raccontaci della tua gara
Il percorso di Arborea lo definirei tecnico. E' importante tenere presente che ci sono molti tratti di sabbia dura che a volte diventa soffice, dunque bisogna stare attenti. Puoi galoppare ma sempre con la testa, soprattutto se fa caldo e i 20 km/h di media finali che ho fatto registrare raccontano perfettamente il percorso.
Amo molto questo tipo di tracciati contornati poi da scenari naturalistici molto suggestivi".
- Sarai una Young Rider fino al 31 dicembre 2024. Qualche progetto?
"Al momento ho la stagione fino alla fine del 2024 tutta programmata, non sono certa se parteciperò ancora tra gli under21 o meno, insomma, ho già la testa tra i senior con nuovi obiettivi da raggiungere".

THE BRONZE MEDALIST OF THE 2021 YOUNG HORSES WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN ARBOREA TELLS US ABOUT HER VICTORY IN SARDINIA
The Spanish young rider Alba Ruiz de Villa Alvarez participated in the World Championships for 8 year old Young Horses at the Horse Country Resort Congress & spa in Arborea back in 2021.
It is the same location where the 2024 edition reserved for 8-year-old horses will be held at the end of September. Alba was the protagonist of a gripping sprint on Cardu 50 that crossed the finish line one second after the Emirati duo Beljafla Khalfan Juma Mohammed with Kashmiir.
For the occasion, in view of the competitive sprints, the Organizing Committee decided to move the finish line beyond the veterinary gate, including a long and picturesque avenue to the track where, as expected, the riders challenged one another.
We have managed to ask the Spanish rider a few questions:
- How does it feel to be on the top step of the podium of a world championship for young horses? Did Cardu 50 continue his sporting career?
"I believe it was a great result; achieving this goal costs a lot in terms of time, work and money.
It's something that doesn't happen every day, it's not just any title.. the sacrifice you need to make in order to achieve this result is really huge. Personally, I completely trusted my horse and relied on the hard work we did at home.
The one in Arborea (Sardinia, Ita) was my first global undertaking and it was a truly magical moment; an immense satisfaction especially because it was achieved with one of my horses.
Cardu 50 continues his racing career at a stable in Dubai and is still competing".
- What do you think of the route in Arborea? Tell us about your race.
"I would define the Arborea route a technical one. It is important to keep in mind that there are many stretches of hard sand which can sometimes become soft... you have to be careful. You can gallop but always keeping your mind focused, especially if it is hot and the 20 km/h average speed in the final loop are the proof of what the track is like.
I really love this type of track surrounded by very suggestive naturalistic scenery".
- You will be a Young Rider until December 31, 2024. Any plans?
"At the moment, my season is completely planned till the end of this year, I'm not sure if I will still participate among the under21s or not, in short, my mind is already looking to the senior rides with new goals to achieve".
